Organic Winery Raser-Bayer
Austria - Carnuntum www.raser-bayer.at Winery description: Organic Winery Raser-Bayer: Good for people and grapes Family cohesion and an intimate connection with nature: these values have shaped the philosophy of the Raser-Bayer organic winery for generations. Today, the winery is run by the young sibling duo Daniela and Michael. A fresh wind that carries new ideas and clearly tells of the origin of good wines.
The tranquil village of Höflein in the Carnuntum wine-growing region is home to the Raser-Bayer organic winery. A beautiful, traditional farm whose atrium looks like a large garden. A few years ago, a new wine cellar was added, which is harmoniously integrated into the ensemble thanks to a good sense of aesthetics. Three generations pull together here, and the palpable team spirit within the family alone spreads the desire to be part of it. Although the two siblings Daniela and Michael are now at the helm, their mother Annemarie Raser is still considered the "big boss". She heroically took over the business at the age of 22 when her father Matthias Bayer suddenly died. Even back then, viticulture was her passion, and management according to organic guidelines was a matter of course for her, as it was for her husband Hannes, who is dedicated to agriculture and forestry as well as the sustainability project "renewable energy".
Enology and creativity For Michael Raser, it was always clear that he would join his parents' business. After extensive oenological training and internships in Austria and New Zealand, he docked at home in 2011 and has been running the wine division ever since. His sister Daniela was initially drawn to the creative industry, specialising in online marketing and graphics, before finally swapping her office job for the hustle and bustle of the winery in 2013. Since then, she has been responsible for marketing the wines and runs the wine tavern together with her mother. This is also where grandma Maria Bayer comes into play, whose pastries are admired by the Heurigen guests just as much as the flowers she lovingly tends.
Protecting the environment as a special challenge Love and empathy for nature, that is what unites all family members in what they do. Currently, the vines on ten hectares of vineyards benefit from this. Eleven different varieties are cultivated here, with Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt as local heroes taking up the largest share. Burgundy varieties are also highly valued, and PIWI varieties such as Muscaris or Muscat Blue are planted in line with the organic philosophy. The wines are vinified in different styles. From fresh and easy-drinking to slowly and long matured reserve wines as well as sparkling and predicate wines, there is something for every taste. Meanwhile, with each wine, one is aware of the dedication and care with which it was created and pressed. "We consider the protection of the environment to be a special challenge of our time. It is very important to us that the entire process of wine production, from the care of the vines to the work in the cellar, is done carefully and sustainably," Daniela and Michael say again and again. To experience for yourself how naturally the duo lives this maxim, it is worth visiting the winery. The best time to do so is when the wine tavern is open and you can enjoy the many homemade delicacies. |
