Bodegas San Dionisio
Spain - Jumilla

Winery description:
History of a joint effort. In 1957, a group of farmers from Fuenteálamo (Albacete) joined together to form the Cooperativa del Campo San Dionisio. The similarity of the name to Dionysus, the god of wine, is coincidental! But certainly not a bad omen. Even then, the comrades were committed to strict values, working with the traditional agricultural methods of the pre-chemical era so as to obtain a 100% natural, organic and high quality product. This was not certified organic at the time, it was simply in line with their way of working at the time. So the step to organic certification in 1997 was not difficult. Today, the comrades combine tradition and solid craftsmanship with the latest technological achievements in cellar technology. The Jumilla region is extremely dry, even by Spanish standards, which ensures a natural yield restriction and not only promotes the quality of the wines. The climate also makes it easier to work organically than in other regions. This results in wines with a price-pleasure ratio that can only be found in a few regions. And another plus: the bottle décor is anything but cooperative old-fashioned, but innovative and modern!
