Characteristic of the "Seeweine" are their delicacy and lively nature. The Hagnau winegrowers are still a strong community today, preserving a long tradition of viticulture and setting the highest standards for quality, care and sustainable management of their vineyards. The grapes are hand-picked in autumn to 100%. The Hagnau winegrowers' association was founded on 20 October 1881 and is today the largest cooperative winegrowing enterprise on Lake Constance with around 52 winegrowing families and 166 hectares of vineyards. Dr. Heinrich Hansjakob, popular writer and pastor, had initiated the cooperative as a bulwark against the arbitrariness of the wine merchants.
