Press Release: Wine System - Trust Your Senses
ORGANIC WINE AWARD INTERNATIONAL - the results of the autumn tasting 2022
Part 2 of the international PAR® tasting impresses with high average level and wide stylistic range - Jury reproduction rate consistently high
Frasdorf, October 2022 - 253 organic wines from 15 countries were put to the sensory test by the WINE SYSTEM jury at the beginning of October; a full 69 percent achieved a Grand Gold or Gold rating. By comparison: at the spring tasting, the figure was 58 percent. A small sensation, considering that the medal table at WINE SYSTEM is not adjusted as a matter of principle. Unlike the usual tasting methods, the analytical PAR® scheme does not even allow for such an influence. Thus, in the autumn edition of the ORGANIC WINE AWARD INTERNATIONAL awarded 38 times Grand Gold, 138 times Gold and 73 times Silver. 4 wines received a Recommendation. The overall winners this autumn are two 99-point red wines from Italy at the top of the ranking: the SER BALDUZIO 2017 from the Azienda Agricola Fiorano in Marche and the 2020 Il Nostro Rosso Organico of Mare Magnum in Apulia. Debriefing date is 26 October 2022.

High reproduction rate despite wide stylistic range
The strikingly high average level of the autumn edition of the ORGANIC WINE AWARD INTERNATIONAL 2022 is joined once again by the observation that there is currently a lot of experimentation in the organic wine scene in terms of style. There is no longer an either-or of traditional artisanal and modern high-tech styles, but rather a huge range of styles that lie somewhere in between - or beyond. The reason for this is probably the great climatic fluctuations that climate change is bringing to winemakers and their vines worldwide.
In view of this stylistic diversity, it is all the more remarkable that the WINE SYSTEM jury achieves a qualitative reproduction of 90 percent in its assessments. This means that two different PAR® Master Teams arrive at the same qualitative assessment of the same wine independently of each other, even with a time gap and after opening a new bottle. This is an extraordinary rate, which is due to the analytical methodology as well as the continuous training of the testers. The advantage for the winemakers is above all that the assessments of the WINE SYSTEM jury are objective and comprehensible down to the smallest detail. What's more, a representative of the jury is even on hand to advise them personally afterwards.
Free telephone counselling for participants on 26 October 2022
