It is the first in the annual program and it is highly rated by the PAR® Certified Master Jury. The reason: the oenological diversity. Traditional craftsmanship, modern winemaking and experimental wines, rare grape varieties, diverse origins - everything is there and thanks to PAR® the team is methodically well equipped. They come from 7 countries in the most diverse climatic zones and show that quality is anything but uniform: from natural red wines from Sweden to traditional Vin Santo from Italy to modern 99-point white wines from Portugal aged reductively in steel tanks. Frasdorf, July 2022 – Der WINE AWARD INTERNATIONAL is a contest with one-for-all qualities. All styles, origins and cultivation methods are very much appreciated because exactly this tense field between modern winemaking and traditional craftsmanship, as well as techniques and attitudes, makes the world of wine so colourful and the PAR® Jury‘s job so thrilling. Unlike other major tasting events, craftsmanship is always the underlying concept for the quality classification for the objective approach of this gamut. The combined line-up of primarily handcrafted wines is the overall winner of the summer tasting: the 2016 Pinotage The Sensory Collection Grande Réserve made at Stellar Winery, Western Cape – South Africa and the 2020 Gewürztraminer Orange from an organic vineyard Grossmann in the Nahe region in Germany. Eleven products received Grand Gold, 36 received Gold, and 34 were awarded Silver.

The absolute leader with 99 points comes from Voskevaz Wine Cellar in Armenia; the top scores from Greece come from Estate Theodorakakos on the Peloponnese and the Family Winery Vorizanaki on Crete. In total, 21 times Grand Gold, 111 times Gold, 72 times Silver and 17 recommendations were awarded. Non-alcoholic wines and wines made from apples were also on the tasting tables for the first time. The closing date for entries for the Summer Edition of the WINE AWARD INTERNATIONAL is 10 June.
