Frasdorf, May 2022 – Valuable analysis for winemakers and retail – Profound inside view into the sensory PIWI wine world. With a new look and proven standards, PIWI WINE AWARD INTERNATIONAL will be on the renowned jury’s agenda on October 07th, 2022. Known as International PIWI Wine Award, this contest, based on years of cooperation with PIWI International e.V., will be launched by WINE SYSTEM – Trust your Senses single-handedly by the assurance of the proven PAR® standard. The associations‘ members will enjoy special rates. Members of PIWI International, Ecovin, Bioland e.V. and Demeter e.V. receive 10%. The quality competition is open to wines of fungus-resistant grape varieties of any origin and production method. The registration is open now at www.winesystem.de.
The fungus-resistant breeds are gaining ground worldwide, not least because of weather extremes brought by the climate crisis that makes it noticeably tangible. WINE SYSTEM is as equally convinced as the co-founders - PIWI International e.V. - that these grapes will rise to future climate challenges; moreover, they will decisively contribute to the regeneration of the ecological system. Then as now, the common objective is to promote the PIWIs with all their qualities in the wine and gourmet world, illustrate the sensory diversity, and honour the winemakers dedicated to this special grape. From now on, the WINE SYSTEM, based on the cross-country review, does this task oneself. PIWI WINE AWARD INTERNATIONAL is now an event firmly directing the attention of the wine world to the „robust vine“, reaffirming that the right know-how is the key to achieving splendid wines that are in no way inferior to their famous forebears.
Differentiated assessment, even if it gets tricky
Whenever you see the name WINE SYSTEM, it always means PAR®. There are no changes to the testing method in the new look. The analytical and documental approach of the PAR® system allows the objective assessment of the diversity during a contest of this kind beyond the simple comparative tests. Each submitted wine receives transparent documentation of its sensory characteristics and enological features assessed regarding origin, climate, style and marketability. By this means, a reductively made fruity white wine with modern stylistics obtains the same objective evaluation and appreciation as classically crafted terroir wine, natural wine or an original Orange.
