Greece - Central Greece Winery description: Just 60 kilometres from the hectic metropolis of Athens lies one of the most beautiful spots in Greece. In the undulating hilly landscape of Megara at the foothills of the Gerania Mountains, all has been right with the world since ancient times. Wine was already being grown here in 1000 BC and the climatic conditions and soil composition are ideal. The area was named after Megareas, the son of Oinoe. Oinos is the ancient Greek word for wine.
